Four Talents Join Our Beijing Opera Training

A decisive audition took place on April 25, 2025. Among the many candidates, four artists—Sophie Belleau, Enora Hwang, Nathan Chagoya, and Song Wang—were chosen to join a Beijing opera troupe, a traditional Chinese theatre company.

These new apprentices will participate in the production of "The Monkey King". The jury assessed not only their interpretive abilities, but also their physical aptitude and availability for rehearsals—essential for mastering this traditional Chinese art form, which, as the saying goes, requires “10 years of study for 1 minute on stage.”

The four selected candidates will train with Michelle Jiang, who will play the Monkey King in the production and is recognized as the best female performer in this discipline in Quebec.

Given the clear interest shown by the Montreal arts community and the number of applications received, the team is looking into the possibility of opening additional classes in the near future.
