Olivier Maranda - A Daring Percussionist, Between Tradition And Modernity

Olivier Maranda is a percussionist renowned for his talent, daring, and virtuosity. After graduating with highest honors from the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, he went on to complete a doctorate on the interpretation of Xenakis' works for solo percussion. In Germany, he perfected his expertise in Stockhausen's music and won first prize for his interpretation of Zyklus für einen Schlagzeuger.

An orchestral and contemporary musician, he performs regularly with the Orchestre Métropolitain and several renowned ensembles in Quebec. He was also principal percussionist with the Ensemble contemporain de Montréal +, where he led ambitious projects and performed major works by Xenakis and Stockhausen.

A sound explorer, he is also working with André Pappathomas on an innovative project featuring real church bells reinstalled in a concert venue.
