Aurore Liang was invited on Microheadline, Canada's media news platform dedicated to Chinese expatriates, to talk about her experience in Canada, and more specifically in Quebec, as an entrepreneur and artist of Chinese origin.
In this interview (with French subtitles), Aurore presents her deep love of Beijing Opera and Chinese storytelling and shares her reasons for undertaking an artistic project to share this passion with Quebecois.
Beijing Opera is one of the oldest and richest art forms in Chinese culture. Its unique combination of music, song, dance and theatre has always fascinated her. Chinese fairy tales, for their part, are imbued with wisdom and symbolism, and offer timeless lessons on benevolence, perseverance and human nature.
By sharing Beijing Opera and Chinese folk tales with Quebecois, she hopes to open up cultural horizons, foster intercultural understanding and strengthen ties between her two communities.
Her artistic project consists of a series of performances and interactive workshops, in which she presents Beijing Opera and Chinese fairy tales from a contemporary angle, adapted to a Quebec audience. Her aim is to create a bridge between these two cultural universes, highlighting similarities and differences, while encouraging reflection on the beauty of cultural diversity.
